When God re-creates the holy nation of Israel, the Israelites will repent and worship God again. The Israelis haven’t and they don’t. Therefore, the Israelites have not yet been restored to the land.
When God re-creates the holy nation of Israel, the Israelites will have one king, they will follow the Law, and they will rebuild the temple. The Israelis don’t, they won’t, and they can’t.
“And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.” It isn’t. When will it be? After the end of the Gentile age: “And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.” [Luke 21:24]
Israel will not be sanctified until the end of the Gentile age. If you’re a pre-tribulationist, you would have to say the end of the age hasn’t happened yet, so Israel has not been sanctified and is not speaking for God. If you’re a post-tribulationist, you may say the end times are happening now…but then you also have to reject the world’s political systems as anti-Christ, as trying to stand in for Christ by claiming to save humanity.
On the other hand, if you’re a Dominionist, the most important objectives are to take possession of the land of Israel, rebuild the Temple, and create a worldwide Christian government. Then a great Christian leader can go to the Temple and declare that the kingdom of God has been created on earth (Revelation 13:7-8). Are you sure you want to fulfill that prophecy on your own, instead of waiting for God?
What does it mean to fulfill prophecy? It means you won’t be in doubt, because God is going to grab you by the throat and let you know who’s in control.
It doesn’t matter which group of Jews occupy the land; if they aren’t fulfilling prophecy, it has nothing to do with honoring God, and it has nothing to do with Christianity in the end times.
We can respect the secular Jews who live there without sitting around wondering which of their political whims we are supposed to cut out of the newspaper and paste into our Bibles. That is simply idolatry.
