Health Care for Dummies

This is why I say that politics makes people stupid: Because you may have a great idea, and you may have great principles, and you may be a great person, but then you start thinking in terms of “parties” and “the base” and “majorities” and “electability”, and the world starts to turn into a little festival of slimy corruption that you rationalize as necessary. Your greed for power, your lust for demonizing and degrading your opponent turns you into a vile, raving idiot with no history, no future, and no moral credibility. This is where all the anti-Obamacare jackasses are today, sitting in their filth and cackling gleefully about it.

ROMNEY: Actually, Newt, we got the idea of an individual mandate from you.

GINGRICH: That’s not true. You got it from the Heritage Foundation.

ROMNEY: Yes, we got it from you, and you got it from the Heritage Foundation and from you.

GINGRICH: Wait a second. What you just said is not true. You did not get that from me. You got it from the Heritage Foundation.

ROMNEY: And you never supported them?

GINGRICH: I agree with them, but I’m just saying, what you said to this audience just now plain wasn’t true.

ROMNEY: OK. Let me ask, have you supported in the past an individual mandate?

GINGRICH: I absolutely did with the Heritage Foundation against Hillarycare.

ROMNEY: You did support an individual mandate?

ROMNEY: Oh, OK. That’s what I’m saying. We got the idea from you and the Heritage Foundation.

GINGRICH: OK. A little broader.

It isn’t just these two flakes, either. Every one of the fake conservatives that rips Obama up and down while pretending to be the “values voter” or the “defender of individual liberties” or the “anti-socialist, cross-burning, flag-waving hero of biblical, constitutional rights” is in the same position of being not merely a hypocrite, but a stupid, irrational, scumbag hypocrite.

They had a chance to trash the whole system with the McCain plan. They could promote something similar now. But bringing up the past would require them to admit how stupid their political strategy of the last two years has been, pinning all their hopes of engineering a morally pure, pastel-colored, minty-fresh John-Galt paradise on their dubious ability to paint a reedy, pseudo-Black, community-organizing dweeb as a vicious spawn of Stalin and Hitler determined to cut the throats of all the beer-swilling, gun-stroking rednecks.

Health care is one of those subjects that has turned me against the fake conservatives. They are so full of BS on the subject that I can’t stand it. Of course, I’ve been polluting my mind with communist agitprop for years, so one should not be surprised that I would be a failure in this area. However, one should also not be surprised that anyone who thinks “everything is political” and worships the false gods of politicians, parties, and pundits would be totally ignorant of history.

Because politics always makes people more stupid.
